Authentic Atpoure

Bengali Weddings · Pujas · Durga Puja · Cultural Ceremonies

The Atpoure is a drape I approach with a lot of respect. It has its own logic — the pleats go right instead of left, the pallu wraps differently, and there are details that only make sense once you know the tradition. This is the full, authentic form, exactly as it has been worn for generations.

The Bengali Atpoure is one of the oldest and most distinct regional draping styles in India. The word "Atpoure" refers to the way the pleats are made — to the right, counter to the Nivi style most people know. The pallu is taken over the right shoulder and tucked at the back, and the overall silhouette is wider and more draped than contemporary styles. This authentic form preserves the tradition fully, worn at Bengali weddings, Durga Puja, and cultural ceremonies.

Complimentary Trial Drape

Every bride gets a complimentary trial run before her big day — she chooses her pleat count, the width of each pleat, and whether she prefers a fuller, puffier finish or a clean, flat one, so Smitha drapes it exactly to her preference.
